MOITRAYEE BHADURI
From balancing a hardcore IT career to nurturing the passion of being an author, screenwriter and content specialist, Moitrayee Bhaduri has done it all with all heart and soul. Her first book, The Sinister Silence (2015), which introduced the feisty private detective Mili Ray, is an edge-of-the-seat murder mystery. Mili Ray’s journey continued in Who Killed the Murderer (2019), where the ex-supercop reigned in solving a high-profile murder. The next in line, Moitrayee’s mini-thriller series on Inspector K.P. Singh (2020–21) has been optioned for screen adaptation even before the first story got published. Her latest novel Trinoyoni (2022) takes you on a tour of Colonial Calcutta through the alleys of the sex trade and crime tracing the journey of India’s first known serial killer.

A student of History with her Bachelor’s degree from Loreto College and Masters from Jadavpur University, a busy IT professional, and now a seasoned author, Moitrayee loves reading crime thrillers as much as she relishes writing them. A dog-lover and coffee addict, she enjoys singing and solving crosswords too.
The Author’s path
Now with a total of 13 books in her kitty, Moitrayee has gradually become a seasoned thriller writer. But there’s more to her. Alongside the mystery tales, she also writes short stories and poems. Her story titled Goodbyes was featured in Bee Turns 3, an anthology published to celebrate the success of Bee Books Publishers. Meanwhile, as a screenplay writer, she has penned scripts for crime shows on TV. Moitrayee has been invited to speak on crime fiction at literary events like the International Kolkata Book Fair, Khandala Lit Fest, Wonder Women, Litventure, book clubs, and educational institutions from time to time. She has been featured in and interviewed by various newspapers, and portals, as well as blogs in India, the US, Australia, and Canada. Moitrayee was also invited to write an empowering, true story for Make It Happen, a collection of inspiring stories by people living their dream, edited by Sanket Pai, a certified Leap Ahead Coach and TEDx Speaker. She also conducts writing workshops for children and adults, encouraging them to cultivate a habit of reading.
